I had a great experience with a stone mason contractor recently and I feel compelled to share.

My house is the “old style” in South Hill with a stone foundation that has been repaired in the past, but badly. I didn’t know how badly until I met the new guy!

Once the job was done a couple weeks ago, I was really, really impressed!  The stones were given a new life and had so much more beauty and character. This had all been obscured by the poor job done before (before I owned the house).  Now the stones just stand out from the mortar so beautifully and there is actually a nice recessed layer of mortar that blends nicely and complements these old stones.  If you view the attached photos, you can see that the previous job involved a very thick composite mortar material that was just so ugly in comparison, didn’t blend in, and was put in roughly and all the way out to the edges.  Not knowing much about stone work, I just didn’t know it was that bad.

Anyway, I would like to heartily recommend Joel Brain to you – he made me feel like I was spending a ton of money with him – no, it was actually a very modest job but he was so professional and enjoyable to work with.  I can’t see not using him for any other similar job in the future.

Best regards,
Linda Santos
